Using Water in the Fight Against Prostate Cancer |
||
Prostate cancer is not a diagnosis anyone wants to hear, however due to a combination of a poor diet and more contaminant exposure than ever in our modern lives, men are more at risk than ever of developing this disease. Most men assume that prostate cancer is a form of cancer they don't have to worry about until they reach their senior years. While nearly three-fourths of the diagnoses given are to men over the age of 65, a full one-fourth of the men that are diagnosed with prostate cancer range between the ages of 29 to 65, so you can see it is an illness all men should be concerned about and know the symptoms. There is no vaccine for prostate cancer, however there have been numerous studies that point to certain environmental contaminants linked with a higher risk of developing prostate cancer. Some of these include: Atrazine, a commonly used weed killer that goes through the soil and into the water supply. Chlorine added to the water supply is another contaminant that is thought to be a link to several forms of cancer, including prostate cancer. Plastic packaging, including the plastic used to bottle water, is also shown in studies to be made with toxic substances that can leech from the plastic into the drinking water within. Eating a diet high in fiber will greatly reduce a man's risk of developing prostate cancer and when a high fiber diet is eaten, a cup of water for every 20lbs of body weight should be consumed throughout the day. This enables the body to properly "sweep" the fiber through the body and effectively keep the body free of toxins. Keeping your body healthy at the most basic level is also a concern. When cells are damaged, they require water to repair themselves. A cell wall is mostly water. When a cell wall is intact, it is nearly completely immune to being damaged by free radicals - the causes of cancer. Adequate hydration with good, clean water is one of the biggest steps towards keeping the body healthy and the prostate cancer-free. Use these tips and if you're not already making some good lifestyle changes by eating better and drinking clean water - aren't you worth it? |
